Core Agreement Overview

Welcome to DocNova. Because DocNova executes completely in your local web browser, you retain complete liability and possession of your document files. Using our platform constitutes your agreement to these simple, user-centric terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the DocNova application, web scripts, offline service workers, and local browser modules (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please refrain from using our application.

2. License and Free Use Provisions

We grant you a free, non-exclusive, fully revocable, worldwide, and royalty-free license to use DocNova’s WebAssembly document utilities for your personal, academic, or commercial purposes. You may execute our tools off-grid, copy static assets for isolated local networks, or inspect our logic pipelines. All contributions to DocNova are governed by standard open-source developer terms.

3. Direct Custody and File Responsibilities

DocNova is an application interface, not a database or file repository.

  • We do not save, store, backup, or host documents. It is your sole responsibility to safeguard and backup your original PDF files before executing edits.
  • Once an operation finishes inside your browser RAM, closing or reloading the tab purges the temporary memory pool instantly. The project has zero recovery tools for deleted or un-downloaded file edits.

4. Permitted Behaviors and Prohibited Actions

Because DocNova’s code runs locally on your computer, there are no remote servers for you to compromise, overload, or attack. However, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to bundle DocNova inside malware, trojans, or phishing wrappers that seek to intercept user file buffers.
  • Misrepresent the client-side architectural model to trick third parties into believing their documents are sent to secure servers when they are run locally, or vice versa.
  • Alter headers, credits, or licensing files of localized distributions to pretend the technology is proprietary.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

DocNova does not warrant that the document processing engines (which run on local WASM scripts) will be fully compatible with every PDF version, encrypted document standard, or browser engine. Large files may trigger local browser memory boundaries or frame limits, causing script termination. You run these tools entirely at your own risk.

6. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the DocNova open-source contributors, project authors, or infrastructure providers be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, procurement of substitute goods or services; loss of use, data, or profits; or business interruption) however caused and on any theory of liability, whether in contract, strict liability, or tort (including negligence or otherwise) arising in any way out of the use of this software, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

7. Terms Revisions and Contact Support

DocNova reserves the right to revise these Terms of Service at any time to reflect newly added local capabilities (such as browser AI integration specs or PWA standard updates).
